My name is Joe Nogueira. I entered this field in 2018 as a behavioral tech and soon became a certified peer recovery specialist. During this time, I realized that I’d found my passion so I returned to school at Middlesex county college in Edison NJ and earned by certificate of addiction studies in January 2021. I recently earned my associate’s degree in May 2024 and am currently enrolled at Thomas Edison University for my bachelor’s degree in psychology and counseling. In my free time I enjoy traveling across the world to places like Spain, Peru and Ireland with my wonderful goddaughters. I practice jujitsu to stay fit and keep my mind and body focused. After spending 10 years sober I believe that everyone deserves the chance that I’ve gotten. I don’t just talk the talk, I’ve walked the same walk that our clients have walked. I am a sponsor and I have a sponsor. I have a sober support network. I go to Alcoholics’s Anonymous meetings. And I want to help end the stigma surrounding addiction and mental health. I believe that everyone deserves a second chance to live a new life: one that starts after addiction ends.
