Chris Ecochard brings over 15 years of dedicated experience to his role as a Primary Counselor at Ikon Recovery Center, where he facilitates both group and individual sessions. A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC), Chris has been working in the mental health and addiction field since 2008. His background is rooted in substance abuse residential treatment programs, providing him with a deep understanding of client care across various levels of treatment.
Chris views his role in the therapeutic alliance as both a “light and mirror” for his clients. He operates from the perspective that our thoughts and perceptions dictate how we feel and act. By helping clients identify distressing beliefs and explore ways to shift limiting perceptions, Chris empowers them to achieve symptom improvement and personal growth. He recognizes that seeking help takes an immense amount of courage, and he considers it a privilege to witness and support his clients\’ bravery during their change process.
At Ikon, Chris is known for a counseling style that is honest, real, consistent, and often humorous. He creates a safe space for clients to explore, process, and express themselves.
Outside of the counseling room, Chris believes that “music is life.” Whether he is listening to albums, attending concerts, or writing his own songs, he is deeply passionate about the arts and enjoys incorporating music into his therapeutic approach. An avid outdoorsman, he also enjoys deep-sea fishing multiple times a year. Chris is guided by the philosophy: “Be the reason someone finally opens up about what they’ve been going through.”
